Hi all, happy to announce another flashprog release, v1.5! It's a smaller one, mostly bringing the AMD and Intel chipset support up to speed. There are, as usual, release notes [1], and of course you can down- load the source right away via Git [2] or as tarball [3]. The internal flash of the Libreboot firmware using flashprog succeeded (flashprog wrote VERIFIED), but the PC no longer turns on (black screen and status LEDs on). I’m trying to flash the original factory firmware back, but flashprog won’t cooperate: it tries to read the contents of the EPROM but then freezes without giving errors, and it doesn’t produce any dump. I’m attaching the log file (created with -VV). I’ll add that the motherboard shows this serial number: BK-1264NP-4L-45G25***** and that the EPROM chip has this marking: FM25W128 2526I2G, which should correspond to the specifications document that I’m attaching. Flashprog says it doesn’t recognize it, but the basic operations should work anyway… so what could the problem be? How can I convince it to perform the flash? I’m using a Raspberry Pi Pico H with the flashser firmware provided by Libreboot for version 26.01 (just released and compatible with my motherboard) loaded onto it. Thank you very much! AMD ROM Armor

Hi folks, I've written a small article about AMD ROM Armor [1], a new tech that basically hides the SPI flash controller on current AMD systems. Alas, it seems that AMD is pushing to not provide an opt-out for users :-/ This might limit flashprog support to systems with open-source firmware in the future. I was successfully able to internally flash libreboot using flashprog on a Dell OptiPlex 9020 SFF (Intel Q87 chipset). A verbose log is attached, as requested.

Intel H170 on GA-H170-HD3 - reading 'PROBLEMS, continuing anyway'

Hi, Tried to read bios from Gigabyte GA-H170-HD3. Flashprog reported 'PROBLEMS, continuing anyway'. Unsure if this means reading fully succeeded or not. Hi, Many thanks for Flashprog. I could successfully flash a Dell OptiPlex 9020 using it, to install libreboot. Internal flashing under linux using debian package (from unstable) flashprog v1.4. As requested in 'Found chipset "Intel Q87" with PCI ID 8086:8c4e. This chipset is marked as untested. If you are using an up-to-date version of flashprog *and* were (not) able to successfully update your firmware with it, then please email a report to flashprog(a)flashprog.org including a verbose (-V) log.' please find attached the log for write, and also for read (of original Dell firmware, also internally done). Reading EEPROM contents was not a problem, But when erasing such error occurs. flashprog p1.3-3-g8a27db9 on Linux 6.1.0-31-amd64 (x86_64) flashprog is free software, get the source code at https://flashprog.org Using clock_gettime for delay loops (clk_id: 1, resolution: 1ns). serprog: Programmer name is "pico-serprog" Found Winbond flash chip "W25Q80.V" (1024 kB, SPI) on serprog. Flashing FAIL at 0x00000010

Hello, I recently just tried to flash my thinkpad x220 with the seagrub_x220_8mb_libgfxinit_corebootfb_usqwerty.rom and ran into the following error. Using clock_gettime for delay loops (clk_id: 1, resolution: 1ns). Found Macronix flash chip "MX25L6405" (8192 kB, SPI) on linux_spi. Reading old flash chip contents... done. Erasing and writing flash chip... Erase/write done. Verifying flash... FAILED at 0x00000010! Expected=0x5a, Found=0xad, failed byte count from 0x00000000-0x007fffff: 0x15c6e4 Your flash chip is in an unknown state. I'm using the 20241206 rev11 rom. I'd appreciate any help for a fix. Thanks! Flashprog to Remove Libreboot

Hello , I've never used Flashprog. Not sure what version to download. My laptop is a Lenovo X-200 64 bit/ 8G ram Libreboot w/ Linux Mint 21.2 OS. Having issues w/ the Libreboot & want to erase. Please direct me to the proper version & any instructions for usage. I looked at the Man Flashprog pages but the -E , Erase command didn't help since I never got the application working. I need to flash the EC chip & remove so will : sudo apt update & sudo apt install flashprog in the terminal work, or are there other commands I should be using once the proper file is downloaded? Thank You, David
